The Sultanate of Oman has strongly condemned the shooting at a church in Karak Governorate in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which resulted in deaths and injuries.

Oman reaffirms its firm rejection of all forms of violence, attacks on places of worship and acts that terrorise civilians. It also expresses its solidarity with Jordan, a statement from the Foreign Ministry said.

Oman extended its condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Jordan and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.

At least seven people have been killed, and 34 others wounded, in an attack in Jordan’s Karak governorate that saw gunmen open fire during a funeral at a church.

Director of Jordan’s Public Security Directorate Obaidullah Al-Maaytah told a press conference on Friday that seven people are confirmed dead after the assault on a Greek Orthodox Church in the village of Hamoud.
